    Layouts due to appear:

  • Ardingley . A new portable N gauge modern image layout with a small preservation line built by club member John Harding

  • Cwmderi: A make-believe 4mm/00 gauge layout from our father and son members, Gwynne and John. The layout features a branch line terminus, with quarry reception sidings and trackwork from an adandoned coal mine. The layout is set in the late 1960's blue diesel era. It is operated with full DCC control and the use of kaydee couplings means that no big hand from the sky is needed during shunting operations.

  • Penthar Bay, another OO gauge layout depicting a sea-side terminous. This layout is run in the 1970's period. Some simplification of the station layout by BR is evident. The old semaphor signals are being dismantled, since two aspect colour lights are in operation.

  • Porthiain. This O-gauge layout was built by a former club member, who tragically died of cancer at a young age shortly after this single board was completed. The layout has been completely refurbished with new scenics, automatic couplings and motorised points. It operates as a shunting puzzle layout and you can test your own skills, re-sorting the six wagons with a little four wheel tank engine.

  • Dibley by Sea, a small fun layout from our artist member, David, who will also be present with his paints and paintings. This layout with novel scenery and lots of details was shown for the first time two years ago.

  • Bear Bottom Lumber Company American On30 logging line. Another entirely new layout, built by club member, Tony W. seen for the first time at last October's Open-day.

  • Southill, An EM scale shunting layout, based on a fictitious canal basin. A former club layout, which was bought by a member earlier in the year. There will be a small display beside this layout to demonstrate the differences between EM and OO gauges and other standards.

  • Oxmouth Quay another brand new N-gauge layout built by brothers Keith & John.

  • Hendre Lane .

  • Coal Sidings a minimum space OO-gauge layout from the Pontypridd Model Railway Club.

  • Gamlyn Viaduct, near Penywaun, a working diorama. Former member Phil, is returning with his completed model of the Gamlyn Viaduct. which complements his model of the Dare Valley Viaduct. Gamlyn was the second Brunel wooden viaduct on the former Vale of Neath line at the top of the Cynon Valley. Like the Dare, it was dismantled in 1947 when the line was abandoned and was at that time the last remaining wooden viaduct in Britain.

  • Thomas and friends Mike and his son Simon are bringing their own portable layout to allow members of the public, especially the children to run Thomas and co.

    Demonstrations:

  • Brian Bunce showing scratch building locos in O-gauge;
  • Members of Diesel and Electric Modellers United (DEMU) will demonstrate DCC (Digital Comand Control)

Preservation Groups include the the Talyllyn Railway and the Cardiff and South Wales Trolleybus Project

Traders include Lord & Butler, and Rickocraft

In addition, club member David Dacey will be selling some of his Dapol limited edition South Wales private owner coal wagons, as well as the club's own wagons.

The Club's last biannual exhibition took place on 22nd July 2007 in the Paget Rooms, Penarth.

In 2008, we held the very successful special show in memory of the late Brian Scoulding in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association
